Mangosuthu University Of Technology Application 2022 : To apply to the Mangosuthu University Of Technology , you need the documents below :

1) A certified copy of the green bar coded ID

2) Proof of payment of any relevant application fees

3) Certified copy of grade 11 results and any latest grade 12 results

MUT Admission Requirements

Admission requirements

Each faculty stipulates admission requirements based on points aggregate calculated from the best five subjects presented by the prospective student.  Over and above the points system, some departments administer a compulsory entrance test.  Not all applicants who meet the minimum requirements can be accepted due to limited space. The selection process prioritises the best qualified applicants and those who selected MUT as their first or second choice

Minimum Entrance Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate with a diploma pass or N3 with 50% pass in Mathematics and English
  • A minimum of 5 subjects with level 4 pass for diploma study and level 3 for Access Courses
  • English Home Language or First Additional language, level 4 pass
  • Specific subject combination and pass level relevant to the qualification
  • Minimum points as per faculty requirement and as listed on the CAO handbook

Faculty of Engineering

Engineering programmes are about the design and production of useful products and services. Engineers convert scientific knowledge into technology and then technology into successful advancement. At MUT we offer the National Diplomas in Chemical, Civil, Surveying, Electrical, Building (Construction Management & Quantity Surveying), and Mechancial Engineering.  We also offer a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering.

The faculty of Engineering also offers access (bridging programmes) designed to prepare students who could not fulfill all the diploma entrance requirements.

Career opportunities

National Diploma: Chemical Engineering

The course trains students to be technicians qualified to assist a chemical engineer or plant operator in the control, maintenance and functioning of processes involved in the production of chemicals. The technician’s duties include research, economic evaluation and unit operations.

National Diploma: Civil Engineering

The course qualifies the technician for employment with civil engineering contractors, consultants, Government departments or municipalities, where he/she would form part of a team usually managed by a professional engineer or technologist. The techniciancould be involved in the design and construction of civil engineering structures such as roads, bridges, dams, railways, harbours, buildings and airports.

National Diploma: Surveying

Scaled base maps are essential to any construction planning or development of land. The course qualifies the student as a surveyor who has the ability to prepare maps of various scales set out for the required structures, transportation routes, industrial and residential properties.

National Diploma: Construction Management & Quantity Surveying (Building)

After completing the course students specialise in either construction management or quantity surveying. The course provides essential skills and knowledge needed in the construction of housing, schools, community facilities and other building projects.

National Diploma: Electrical Engineering

The course equips the students with the knowledge and skills needed for working in electrical power generation and distribution environments, process control environments and electronic communication environments. The course may include design, development and work on computer-based systems.

National Diploma:  Mechanical Engineering

The diploma qualifies students for a wide range of occupations. There are employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry, motor industry, ship building industry, aircraft industry, at power stations and on the mines.

NON-SOUTH AFRICAN APPLICANTS

• Students holding a GCE GCSE IGCSE or the Cambridge School Certificate must have passed five approved ordinary level subjects including English language provided three subjects have been passed at the same examination sitting.

MUT Scholarships

Awards for academic excellence

MUT offers Matric Aggregate Awards to first year students who achieved level 7 on any of their grade 12 subjects with the exception of Life Orientation which is considered to be a non-curriculum subject. The award may be used to finance your first year studies at MUT. This award is administered by the Financial Aid office.

Deans Commendation Award

With the intent to acknowledge excellent academic performance of students, MUT’s executive introduced the Deans’ Commendation Awards. The awards are offered to MUT students who achieve an aggregate of 75% or more in their exams. The incentive is a 100% remission of tuition fees.

National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)

The scheme was established by the government to assist academically deserving students registered at tertiary institutions. Students who qualify for NSFAS receive loans of up to 40% which may be converted into a bursary at the end of the academic year should all courses be passed.

Bursary

Refers to grant of funds that is offered as an aid to financially needy and academically deserving students. Bursaries, unlike loans, are not repayable

How to Apply to MUT

All first year applications are submitted through the Central Applications Office (CAO). This is a simplified way of applying for more than one programme, using one application form, and paying a single application fee. Use your unique CAO number as a reference when paying the application fee. We advise prospective students to choose MUT as a first choice.

Application forms can be downloaded from the CAO website, www.cao.ac.za. You may also apply online by going to www.cao.ac.za, click on the apply tab, then click on apply now, and follow the easy application process. The CAO number appears in tear-off slip on the CAO application form.

When Is Mangosuthu University of Technology Registration Date?

Registration only of Biomedical Technology and Information and Communication Technology students. Saturday, 19 January: Admission and Registration of all new students.
