The University of Free State (UFS) has started accepting applications for the 2024 academic session, so if you are a grade 12 student who would like to get admission into this school, now is the right time to prepare for your online application.

The University of Free State is a higher institution located in Bloemfontein, South Africa. It has two diverse campuses in Bloemfontein and one in Qwaqwa in the scenic Eastern Free State and houses up to 40,000 students in over seven faculties.

You have to use the following procedures/steps to ensure your successful application to the University of the Free State for 2024, and hopefully, you will get admitted.

Selecting your course of choice is the first thing to do when you are applying to any university. UFS has 7 faculties from which prospective students can choose:

  • Economic and Management Sciences
  • Education
  • Health Sciences
  • The Humanities
  • Law
  • Natural and Agricultural Sciences
  • Theology and Religion

UFS APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have an NSC or NCV with an endorsement that allows entrance to degree studies (Bachelor’s degree) or an equivalent qualification.
  • You meet all the minimum admission requirements for the program you intend to study. Meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen/intended program of study does not guarantee admission, as limited spaces are available in each program.
  • You have a minimum level of 4 (50%) in the chosen UFS language of instruction: English or Afrikaans (only applicable to certain programs).
  • You must pass certain school subjects with a minimum level of achievement in order to take a certain university module. Please refer to the section on the faculty-specific admission requirements, which also includes the respective compulsory subjects and achievement levels required per program.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Go to apply.ufs.ac.za
  2. Scroll down and click on the ‘New Application’ button
  3.  to fill in all the required details.
  4. Submit the required documents.
  5. Submit the completed application, and you’re done.

NB: Before you begin your application, you must have an active email address and, an active phone number.

You must also have a scanned copy of your ID/passport, grade 11 final results, and your latest academic transcript and certificate of conduct if you are transferring from another university.

HOW TO TRACK YOUR APPLICATION

To track your UFS application status on the UFS system:

  • Open any internet browser and type www.ufs.ac.za in the URL.
  • After clicking on ‘Student Self Service’, you will be navigated to the Oracle PeopleSoft system.
  • Once you have navigated to the Oracle PeopleSoft system, log in
  • After logging in, on the active Student Services Center page, click ‘View Application’ to track your application(s) status.
