Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus. Naturally, the species is green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings.

What food does Budgies eat?
Wild budgies eat a variety of seeds (grass seeds), fruits, berries, and vegetation. They feed on or near the ground.
What they eat varies with food availability during different seasons.
Do budgies need a lot of water?
You should provide your budgie with fresh water at least once a day, or more if needed. I refresh first thing when I get up (at the same time as feeding) and also when I get home from work.
Additionally, if I see they’ve made a mess of it, I will switch out the water as needed when I’m home.
