What is a Nursing?
Nursing is a health care field that involves caring for patients to prevent illness, promote general health, triage emergent care, and assist in the recovery from a disease or injury. Individuals who work in this field may work in a long-term care facility, physician’s office, or hospital.
They complete duties that patients require during their hospital stays, and they can perform tasks like reading charts, drawing blood, collecting medical samples, and assessing patients’ progress.
Nursing is at the core of every patient care journey, as patients interact as frequently, if not more frequently, with nurses as they do doctors.

How many years does it take to study nursing in South Africa?
Four years of full-time study at Vaal University of Technology. Clinical learning is achieved by placement in healthcare facilities accredited by the South African Nursing Council, for General Nursing, Community Health, Psychiatry and Midwifery.
