What is Soursop Fruit used for?
The plant produces edible fruit all year round and is widely used as a traditional medicine for skin disease, respiratory disease, fever, bacterial infections, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer.
Can you eat soursop raw?
If you want to eat it raw, it’s best to simply cut your soursop in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon
(you’ll have to work around the seeds or spit them out as you go). Because of its stringy texture, soursop is going to be difficult to cut up into cubes, hence the need to scoop it out with a spoon.
What is the best way to consume soursop?
The fruit is consumed fresh or made into juices and smoothies. The leaves are taken as a tea. The seeds are crushed to make a poultice against head lice (see precautions below).
The fruit (despite the common name “soursop”) is sweet, soft, and smooth.
