What is the best type of valve?
Ball valves may be the most reliable valves and are commonly used for main water shut-offs. Similar to gate valves,
ball valves should be all the way open to allow the full flow of water or all the way closed to restrict all water from flowing. The valve is controlled by moving it between 0 and 90 degrees.
How do I know which valve to buy?
Determine the pressure and temperature requirements. Find out both the temperature and pressure ranges where the valve will be installed.
Metal valves tend to withstand higher temperatures and pressures than plastic valves. Metal valves are also usually best for pressurized gases.
What size valve should I use?
As a general rule, the maximum capacity of a control valve should be 15-50% above the maximum process flow,
and the minimum required Cv must be within the available rangeability of the valve for proper control.
