Flamingos or flamingoes are a type of wading bird in the family Phoenicopteridae, which is the only extant family in the order Phoenicopteriformes.
There are four flamingo species distributed throughout the Americas, and two species native to Afro-Eurasia. A group of flamingoes is called a “flamboyance.”

Do flamingos fly?
Flamingos travel at approximately 35 miles per hour (mph) over short distances, but they can fly upwards of 40 mph during long-distance flights with supportive winds. When flamingos fly, they hold their legs and necks out, often with their bills tipped upwards.
