What is the standard size of stainless steel sheets in South Africa?
Stainless Steel Sheet, also commonly known as Cold Rolled Sheet, is available in the following finishes: 2B, No.4 with PVC, and BA with PVC. Sheets are also available paper interleaved and can be polished or embossed to your requirements. See Stainless Steel decorative finishes.
Standard lengths for Sheet (in mm) are 2000, 2500, 3000 and 6000. Standard widths (in mm) are 1000, 1250,1500 & 2000.
All materials are produced to the following international specifications:
Tolerance to ASTM A480M, Chemical to ASTM A240, Mechanical to ASTM A240, ASME, and other specifications available on request. Test certificates are supplied as required on all materials delivered. Density factors used for weight calculations: under 3mm thick Austenitics (such as Grades 304 and 316) 8.07kg/m²: Ferritics (Grades 430 and 3CR12) 8.00kg/m².
Is sheet steel same as stainless steel?
Standard steel is composed of iron and less than 1.5% of carbon, whilst stainless steel is formed from iron and roughly 30% of chromium. Despite this clear difference, each type is likely to contain a handful of other elements.
