Senna glycoside, also known as sennoside or senna, is a medication used to treat constipation and empty the large intestine before surgery. The medication is taken by mouth or via the rectum. It typically begins working in around 30 minutes when given by the rectum and within twelve hours when given by mouth.

How much is senna for adults?
Adults and children 12 years of age and older—At first, 2 tablets once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 4 tablets two times a day.
How long does senna take to kick in?
Senna takes about 8 hours to work. It’s usual to take it at bedtime so it works overnight. Drink plenty of fluids (6 to 8 glasses a day) while you’re taking senna or your constipation may get worse.
Can senna be taken daily?
It is maybe taken once or twice daily. Senna normally causes a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours, so it may be taken at bedtime to produce a bowel movement the next day. Do not take senna for more than 1 week without talking to your doctor.
Does senna damage the colon?
