How much space is available for a scanner?

Does this scanner suit all my document imaging needs?

How long do scanners last?
I’ve noticed with scanners that the hardware rarely fails, but the manufacturer is not required to continue providing driver/software support and updates.
Anywhere from 7 to 10 years is what they promise after that you may one day buy a new computer and no longer be able to use your scanner.
