The South African Social Security Agency is a national agency of the South African government created in April 2005 to administer South Africa’s social security system,

including by distributing social grants, on behalf of the Department of Social Development.

Can I apply for Sassa at any branch?

Either go to your nearest South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office and complete a form in the presence of a SASSA officer,

or you can apply online at www.services.sassa.gov.za. Please note there is no fee payable.

How much does it take to register SASSA in South Africa?

To apply, you need to fill out an application form at your closest SASSA Office or visit the Regional Office device point.

The best thing about this program is that there are no fee charges. Verification of the application form will be finalized in the presence of the SASSA officer.

How long does it take to get an SASSA grant?

 If your application is approved, you will start receiving payments within three months, and the payments will be backdated to the date of your application.
