What is a Pressure Reducing Valve?
Pressure-reducing valves decrease the incoming high pressure of water into a lower and safer pressure for your home. They are normally installed on the main water line next to the shut-off valve.
As the water flows through the valve, it passes through the diaphragm that is connected to a spring and reduces the pressure to the desired level as the water moves from the valve through the other side.
A reducing valve can also be set to any desired downstream pressure within its design limits. Once the valve is set, the reduced pressure will be maintained despite the changes in the supply pressure and system load variations.

How long will a Water Pressure Reducing Valve last? The life expectancy of a water pressure regulator is most commonly in the range of 10 to 15 years. However, you may see a regulator malfunction at three years and one still properly functioning at 20 years old if regularly maintained.
What are the disadvantages of a pressure-reducing valve?
The disadvantages of this valve include opening and closing not being prompt, a large space is required when assembling, starting, and maintaining it.
It is also prone to leakage when operated at high temperatures due to periodical fluctuations. The pressure control valve also creates vibration.
