What is a Plug Valve?
Plug valves are valves with cylindrical or conically tapered “plugs” that can be rotated inside the valve body to control flow through the valve.
The plugs in plug valves have one or more hollow passageways going sideways through the plug, so that fluid can flow through the plug when the valve is open.

Which is better ball valve or plug valve?
In short, if you require an on/off valve for low- to moderate-pressure applications, a plug valve will provide a quick, leak-tight seal.
For low- to high-pressure applications (especially those for which keeping torque to a minimum is critical), ball valves are a reliable, easy-to-operate solution.
Why use a plug valve instead of a ball valve?
Although both valves need regular maintenance to stay working efficiently, a plug valve is much easier to maintain than a ball valve. The plug can be removed easily for cleaning and repairs. There are also fewer moving parts that would also need attention.
