Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947 (Act No. 36 of 1947).
To register a pesticide product in South Africa, one needs to have a local legal entity that will represent
the applicant company. The legal entity can be a person or a company that has to be
registered under the Company Act with the Department of Trade and Industry.
Pesticides can be registered if they have proven to be effective, safe, and of good quality. Therefore the

generated from the GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) accredited independent laboratory.
Details of the manufacture.
At least three biological efficacy data reports were conducted on local cockroach species. In South
Africa such studies are conducted by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
All chemical-physical data of the active ingredient and the formulated product must also be
submitted. All specifications of the product like storage stability data must be submitted.
Details of the mode of action on how the product works.
Registrations in South Africa will cost approximately R6300/product, or just under $1,000, and it
normally takes a minimum of 14-16 months to register the product.
