Apply to NWU using the online application
Things to note before using the online application for North-West University:
- You’ll need an email address to complete the application. Don’t have one? Get an email address first.
- Once you complete an online application you may not send a hardcopy application.
- Make sure you complete the application in full (so that there’s no delay from NWU).
- Getting an NWU student number does not mean you have been accepted. You will also receive a pin number which you’ll need to use with your student number.

Apply to NWU using the hardcopy application
You can apply by filling in the hardcopy application form and posting your completed application to the desired campus you would like to study.
Things to note when applying via hardcopy:
- The “old-fashioned” way usually takes longer, so you’ll have to be patient.
- Make sure you have attached all relevant supporting documentation.

How do I register for NWU 2023?
Commencement of online registration for first-year students: 23 January 2023. Commencement of online registration for senior students:
30 January 2023. The first semester amendment period for module and qualification changes will be available from 13 February 2023 to 3 March 2023.
How much is the NWU application fee?
The application is free for South African students and R550 for international students.
