Does debt expire in South Africa?
South Africa has different laws which specify prescription periods, for example, the Prescription Act says that contractual and delictual debts extinguish after three years from the date when they became payable (due). Prescription periods may, in certain circumstances, be delayed or interrupted.
How do I remove a debt review from my name?
Two legal ways for debt review removal:
- If all your debts have been paid up as outlined in the debt review court order or debt review payment arrangement plan. OR.
- If all your short-term credit agreements that have been stated in the court order or debt review payment arrangement plan, have been paid up completely.
