How does an MMS work?
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) works by allowing organizations to send text, images, video clips, and audio clips to their customer’s MMS-compatible mobile phones.
Like SMS, MMS uses telecom operator-controlled and protected channels and servers to relay content from the server to the handset.
Why do people send MMS?
MMS messaging allows people to send and receive photos, videos, and messages with longer lengths than just 160 characters. MMS messaging frees up texters to express themselves however they’d like, instead of in small text boxes.
What is the difference between SMS and MMS?
The biggest difference between SMS and MMS is that SMS is only capable of sending a plain text —meaning messages can only contain alphanumeric characters (i.e. numbers and letters).
MMS on the other hand supports multimedia content (i.e. image, video, and audio files) in addition to alphanumeric characters.
