What is Mechanical Engineering?

Mechanical engineering is the study of physical machines that may involve force and movement. It is an

engineering branch that combines engineering physics and mathematics principles with materials science, to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.

Mechanical Engineering At Nkangala TVET College

Duration: 11 weeks per N-level

Admission requirements:

  • An appropriate National Certificate N3 Engineering Studies; or 
  • A Senior Certificate, with at least three instructional offerings which are applicable to the instructional offerings chosen by the candidate for the program; or 
  • An equivalent qualification
  • Proceed to the next level only when the previous level has been successfully completed i.e. N4 for N5, etc.
  • Contact the individual campuses for specific subjects, course packages, and admission requirements. 
  • N2 and N3 can be offered to registered apprentices upon written request from their companies (part-time), subject to the approval of the Department of Education.

  • Fitting machining: Tool & Diemaker, Mechanical Draughtsperson, Maintenance Fitter, Millwright
  • Motor Vehicle Maintenance: Motor Mechanic (Petrol), Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Draughtsperson
