Where do we get leather material?
Leather is a strong, flexible and durable material obtained from the tanning, or chemical treatment, of animal skins and hides to prevent decay.
The most common leathers come from cattle, sheep, goats, equine animals, buffalo, pigs and hogs, and aquatic animals such as seals and alligators.
What is the best quality leather fabric?
Full grain is the finest quality leather. As the name indicates, the hide and grain (skin texture) are fully intact. Full-grain can be absorbent semi-aniline or aniline (referring to little or no clear finish), or it may have a more water-repellent, stain-resistant pigmented finish.
Is leather fabric expensive?
Real leather can be expensive, especially if it is a high-quality full-grain leather item. Leather goods from luxury brands can also be expensive, particularly if exotic animal hides, such as alligator skin, were used.
How long does leather fabric last?
Leather sofas are extremely robust, lasting around 15 to 20 years compared to about 5 for a fabric one. However, when it comes to a sound investment, quality is everything because, as the saying goes, you usually get what you pay for.
