Introduction to Construction Health and Safety at UKZN

Construction safety aims to ensure that a construction site or the industry as a whole is not the cause of immediate danger to the public around a construction site, or the workers at a construction site, as well as making sure that the finished product of construction meets required safety standards.

The programme will provide participants with a well-rounded, broad educational experience that will equip them with the knowledge base, competencies and skills, underpinned by the theories, methodologies and principles essential to the effective management of construction health and safety on construction projects (both private and public).

Who should attend:

Anyone from the construction industry who will either already be working in the construction H&S field or interested in working in that field

Matriculants or school leavers desiring an intensive introduction to construction H&S for purposes of increasing their employability. This programme will be their first formal academic exposure to construction health and safety.

Entrance requirements:

Minimum qualification of matric or NQF 4 equivalent

Applicant must have access to a reliable Internet line to complete required hours online

Duration:

12 days, online (interactive sessions with facilitators)

A full implementation plan to be communicated on registration

Recorded sessions will be available only for registered delegates for a limited period

Assessments are restricted and all social distancing measures are adhered to as per the DOH regulations

Learning Methodology:

Delegates attending the course are provided with a unique blended learning methodology that combines online access to subject content with real-time engagement with facilitators, and the opportunity to add value through contact learning sessions, where feasible and appropriate.
