Anagen phase:

The anagen phase is the most important phase of the cycle.

It is also known as the growth phase, and it covers an entire process of hair growth starting from the formation of the inside of your hair follicle until the hair stops growing.

The anagen phase begins at the bottom of your hair follicle with the formation of the papilla which is made up of connective tissue and a capillary loop that provides nourishment for the hair.

The cells in the papilla divide to produce a hair fiber, and the follicle attaches itself to the dermal layer of the skin which will provide nourishment for the hair.

This phase can last anywhere from two to six years. And yes, you have probably guessed it, the duration of the phase is determined by genetics.

So the longer your hair stays in the anagen phase the more it will grow.

Catagen phase:

When the hair reaches its maximum length, or when the duration of the anagen phase is over, the body sends a signal that the anagen phase is over.

The first thing that happens is that the hair bulb stops producing melanin (a pigment), then over two weeks, the hair gets detached from the papilla which means that it can’t get any nourishment and the growth phase is over.

This phase is known as a transitional phase, during which the hair follicle can renew itself. Even though the hair is not growing during this phase, the follicle is slowly pushing out the hair increasing the terminal length (the part of the hair that we can see).

Telogen phase:

This is the last phase of the process. The hair follicle starts producing new hair, eventually pushing out the old hair, and the anagen phase begins again.

Does beard growth oil work?

The simple answer is that beard oil will not speed up beard growth. There is no scientific evidence to support these claims so you should consider whether spending your hard-earned dollars on beard growth oils, serums, and supplements is worth it. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use beard oil.

Which oil grows beard fastest?

Jojoba oil is a well-known nourishing plant oil that promotes faster and thicker beard growth.

It feeds your hair follicles with essential fatty acids, minerals, and vitamins, ensuring a healthy hair growth cycle. It also moisturizes the skin and protects the hair follicles from free radical damage.
