How To Be A Sperm Donor In South Africa

Below is How To Be A Sperm Donor In South Africa

To become a sperm donor:

You must be aged 18 to 35.

You must undergo a semen analysis to confirm your sperm quality is suitable.

You must then have a medical examination and undergo infection screening.

You are invited to donate regularly, but only high-quality samples will be frozen and stored in the sperm bank.

You may donate at only one institution and are allowed only six live births resulting from your donations.

Sperm donation is anonymous, and under current law, your identity may not be disclosed to the recipient.

You will be reimbursed for your time and travel costs, and will not pay for any tests associated with the process.

Do I qualify to be a sperm donor?

If you are a healthy non-smoker between the ages of 19 and 37, living in Cape Town or surrounding areas, and have a degree or diploma (or are registered for one) you are the man that we need. We have several recipient families who are looking for a sperm donor just like you. Apply now in the application box on the right-hand side of the screen.

Let’s talk about the money

While we know our sperm donors donate to help our recipients, we also compensate you for the time and commitment it takes to be a great donor. Our sperm donors receive between R3 000 and R8 000 compensation.

Why do people need a sperm donor?

1 in 4 couples who long for a child struggle to conceive. This may be because the male partner’s sperm is not of sufficient quality/quantity for fertilization or he may have a genetic disorder he doesn’t want to pass on.
Same-sex female couples and single women may also choose to have a child with the help of a sperm donor

Whatever the reason for needing a sperm donor, the journey was taken to get to this point is often along.

Those who choose one of our amazing sperm donors to help them build their families are incredibly grateful for this precious gift. Though recipients will never meet or know who their sperm donor is, his courage and selflessness are something they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

How the sperm donation process works

Step 1:
Fill in the initial screening and application form on the right-hand side of this screen.

Step 2:
The Aevitas team will set up a time for a free semen screening. We have screening and donation facilities in Pinelands, Tygerberg, and Stellenbosch. Should you qualify, you will proceed to step 3.

Step 3:
The Aevitas Sperm Donation Agency will set up a time for a free blood screen.

Step 4:
On average donations take place twice a week for about four weeks.

A member of our team will brief you on what to do before the sample collection day so that the sample is of the highest quality.

Step 5:
A final blood test is needed a month after your final sample has been given. One of the things we admire most about our sperm donors is their tenacity and with that their thirst for information. Responsible donors ask lots of questions. Therefore, we have put this frequently asked questions section together for you. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please get in touch with us.
