What happens when you archive a chat on WhatsApp?
Archiving a chat doesn’t delete the chat or back it up to your SD card.
Archived individual or group chats will stay archived when you receive a new message from that individual or group chat. You won’t receive notifications for archived chats unless you’re mentioned or replied to.
How do I archive a WhatsApp conversation without deleting it?
All you have to do is just go to chats settings and enable the option Keep Chats Archived. Once you enable this feature, you will not receive any notification from the archived chats.
