The potato is a starchy root vegetable native to the Americas that is consumed as a staple food in many parts of the world. Potatoes are tubers of the plant Solanum tuberosum, a perennial in the nightshade family Solanaceae.

Combine the potatoes, olive oil, seasoned salt, paprika, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl. Toss well to combine.

Heat an air fryer to 400° for 2 minutes. Place the potatoes in the basket and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the basket and shake the potatoes.Return the potatoes to the air fryer for 8 to 10 more minutes, until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Serve immediately.

Why soak potatoes in water before air frying?

Soaking the potatoes does something magical with the starches—it helps achieve the coveted French fry crispiness and prevents the fries from sticking together.

This is what I did for the air fryer, too. I soaked these potatoes for about an hour or so, but I’ve also soaked them for up to 24 hours with no ill effect.

How long does it take for a potato to get soft in the air fryer?

40 to 50 minutes

Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Rub potatoes with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and parsley. Place potatoes in the air fryer basket. Cook in the preheated air fryer until potatoes are soft, 40 to 50 minutes, depending on potato size.
