Once everything is ready, the transfer documents are “Lodged”. Every component of a transfer has to be lodged at the same time.
A simple cash transaction with no existing bond over the Property is the easiest – it is only one file handed in.
How Long Does Lodgement Take In South Africa?
The lodging of the title deed usually takes about 7 to 10 days. Once it is verified, the Registrar of the Deeds Office signs off on it, and the title deed is officially lodged.
How long does property transfer take once lodged in South Africa?
On average, the process takes around three months from the date of sale until the property is registered in the new owner’s name.
However, certain external aspects can delay the process such as waiting for a stipulated condition in the contract to be fulfilled or obtaining a rates clearance certificate.
How long does it take to lodge a bond in South Africa?
Payment of the guarantees is made on the date of the registration of the bond.
NOTE: the same Attorney could be appointed as Transfer Attorney, Bond Attorney, and Cancellation Attorney.
The registration process typically takes between 8 and 12 weeks to complete. However, delays are possible if the information is incomplete.
