The Higher Certificate in Mathematics and Statistics will enable learners with an NQF Level 4 Mathematics to improve their reading and writing in academic, business, and Standard English language, their computational skills mathematical skills, and statistical skills, with an introduction to scientific field knowledge.

Admission requirements

Your admission to Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.

A National Senior Certificate (NSC), with at least 30% in the language of teaching and learning and 40% in Mathematics,
or
a Senior Certificate, with at least 30% HG or 40% SG in the language of teaching and learning and 40% HG or 50% SG in Mathematics,
or
a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4, with at least 30% in the language of teaching and learning and 40% in Mathematics in terms of the NSC.

Additional support for this qualification via TVET colleges

Unisa has an agreement with various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to offer classes in a selected number of qualifications. These classes have proved to generally improve the throughput rate of students who enroll for them.
