What is the firefighting foam?

FOAM: A fire-fighting foam is simply a stable mass of small air-filled bubbles, which have a lower density than oil, gasoline, or water.

Foam is made up of three ingredients – water, foam concentrate and air. When mixed in the correct proportions, these three ingredients form a homogeneous foam blanket.

What type of foam is commonly used for fire fighting?

Class B foams

Class B foams used in flammable liquid firefighting are a mixture of foam concentrate, water, air, and mechanical agitation that creates a foam blanket to cover a fire.

How is fire fighting foam calculated?

The formula for calculating the needed foam concentrate at a flammable liquid release is as follows: Area X Critical Application Rate (CAR) X Eduction Rate (ER) X 15 = Foam Concentrate Needed.

What is 3% firefighting foam?

AFFF 3 % foam concentrate | Fomtec firefighting foam

Fomtec AFFF 3% should be used at 3% proportioning (3 part concentrate and 97 parts of water). May be used with all water types. Fomtec AFFF 3% can be stored as premix when blended with fresh water.

For use on Class A type fires, an induction ratio of 0,3% to 1% is recommended depending on the application and discharge device.
