What is an Earth Rod?
An earth rod (or electrode) is typically a conductive rod of steel or copper driven into the ground and connected to an EV ChargePoint.
This connection helps to protect the user from potentially lethal electrocution should the electricity distribution system supplying the property develop a fault.

Which rod is best for earthing?
Copper bonded steel core earth rods are the most specified due to electrical and mechanical strength, and resistance to corrosion as comparatively lower cost compared to solid copper or stainless steel types – the lowest cost galvanized rods for usually installed non-critical, short-term or temporary earthing requirements.
How long does an earth rod last?
A copper-clad steel ground rod with a 10 mil (0.010 inches) copper coating is claimed to last as long as 30 years. Stainless steel and solid copper rods require no such coatings and as such have longer-life spans, easily exceeding 50+ years of service life.
How deep should an earth rod be?

What is the minimum distance between earth rods?

However, in NEC 250.56 they note that spacing greater than 6 ft will improve the efficiency of the electrode. The spacing of electrodes deals with a theory known as the Sphere of Influence.
