Diploma in Sustainable Development at University of Stellenbosch

The Diploma in Sustainable Development is an interdisciplinary three-year program that will equip you with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Sustainable technologies. Complexity and ecology. Social action and leadership. Small business management.

General admission requirements

• Write the National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) AQL
• An NSC aggregate of at least 65% (excluding Life Orientation)

Students are selected on academic merit and a written motivation that applicants complete as part of the
departmental application form. At most, 30 students are selected.

The language of instruction is English.
• Writing the NBT AQL is recommended; the NBT MAT is not to be written
• An NSC aggregate of at least 55% (excluding Life Orientation)
• Mathematics 50% OR Mathematical Literacy 60%
• English Home Language 50% OR English First Additional Language 60%

Admission requirements

For admission to the University you need:
• A National Senior Certificate or school-leaving certificate from the Independent Examination Board as certified by Umalusi with admission to bachelor’s degree studies; or
• A university exemption certificate issued by the South African Matriculation Board to students with other school qualifications.
Admission to bachelor’s degree studies requires that you obtain a mark of at least 4 (50-59%) in each of four designated university admission subjects.
