Diploma in Genetics and Development Biology at WIT

Developmental biology uses both genetics and cell biology to understand how genes and the environment interact to produce a whole new individual from a single cell as well as understand the various developmental changes that organisms undergo throughout life.

Entry Requirements

You should be at least 17 years of age in January of the year of entry.

You must have a Secondary/High School Diploma, with good grades in English and Mathematics and at least 4 other subjects, on average + 60%.

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first or native language then you will need to complete an English Language exam, for example, an IELTS or TOEFL exam, in order to be considered for admission to a course in WIT.

As a result, the increasing demand for genetic testing cannot be met. This situation means that although South Africa has the potential, expertise, and skills to provide an excellent genetic service, it is not being permitted to develop.
