For Applicants who obtained a Senior Certificate

Admission requirement(s):

A Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.

Selection criteria:

To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 17.

• For Applicants who obtained a National Senior Certificate

Admission requirement(s):

A National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, or an equivalent qualification, with an achievement level of at least 3 for English (home language or first additional language).

Selection criteria:

To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 17.

• FOR APPLICANTS WITH A NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL):

Admission requirement(s):

A National Certificate (Vocational) with a bachelor’s degree or a diploma endorsement, with at least 50% for English (home language or first additional language) and 50% for Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, 50% for Life Orientation (excluded for APS calculation), 60% for any other three compulsory vocational subjects and 50% for the fourth subject.

Selection criteria:

To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 27.

Assessment procedure:

Applicants who apply before the closing of applications and who meet the minimum criteria will be invited to submit a portfolio for evaluation and to complete a questionnaire.

The APS will contribute 20% to the final admission score, the questionnaire will contribute 30% and the portfolio will contribute 50%.

Accepted candidates will be informed per an official letter from the Office of the Registrar.

The remainder of applicants will be placed on a waiting list to fill possible places created by applicants not arriving on the commencement date.

Aspects that are taken into consideration are potential to complete the programme successfully; creativity; two-dimensional and three-dimensional skills; design ability; drawing skills; a sense of color; and general potential and craftsmanship.

Minimum duration:

Three years.
