
What is Clomiphene Pill?
Clomiphene is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) but wish to become pregnant (infertility).
Clomiphene is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants. It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to develop in the ovaries and be released.

Uses
Clomid is often the first fertility treatment used if a person has irregular cycles or anovulatory cycles (menstruation without ovulation). It is also typically prescribed to treat polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) related to infertility.

It may also be used in cases of unexplained infertility or when a couple prefers not to use more expensive and invasive fertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
(However, it’s important to remember that the more expensive treatment is sometimes the most appropriate.)
Clomid may also be used during IUI (intrauterine insemination) or IVF procedures. With IVF, Clomid may be used in conjunction with injectable ovulation medications to elicit a stronger response.
Can Clomid cause fibroids to grow?
Clomid may cause uterine fibroids to grow in size.
How many tablets of Clomid should I take?
The recommended dose for the first course of Clomid (Clomifene Citrate BP) is 50 mg (1 tablet) daily for 5 days. Therapy may be started at any time in a patient who has had no recent uterine bleeding.
