What are Civil Engineering and Building Construction?
Civil Engineering & Construction deals with designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure we rely on daily:
buildings, roads, bridges, water and energy systems, waste networks, and many more.
Civil Engineering and Building Construction At Nkangala TVET College
Duration: One year per NQF level.
Admission requirements:
- Grade 9 or higher
- ABET Level 4
- NQF level 1
To obtain a National Certificate: A total of 7 subjects: 3 Fundamental and 4 Vocational subjects.
Access to the following vocational activities:
- Operation and maintenance of construction equipment and machinery.
- Participate in the construction of roads, bridges, dams, railways, and houses.
- Take part in designing and constructing of tunnels, roads, factories, reservoirs, etc.
- Participate in the erection of reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry structures.
Career Opportunities: On completion, the certificate holder will have access to careers in any of the following sectors: Architectural Technology; Drainage Inspection; Industrial Designing; Quantity Surveying; Town Regional Planning;
Sanitation Engineering; Road Construction Engineering; Civil Construction Engineering; Building Construction.
