Bachelor of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy at University of Stellenbosch

A Speech/Language Therapist assists in the promotion of normal communication, as well as the identification, prevention, treatment, and management of a variety of developmental or acquired speech, language, and oral disorders.

Minimum Requirement

Write the NBTs AQL by 30 June
• An aggregate of at least 60% for the NSC or an equivalent qualification (excluding Life Orientation)
• Physical Sciences OR Life Sciences 50%
• At least TWO of the following THREE languages (Home Language or First Additional Language) 60%: English AND/OR Afrikaans AND/OR a third language
• Have the Clinical Visitation Form for Speech-Language Therapy completed and submit it by 31 July.

Admission requirements

For admission to the University you need:
• A National Senior Certificate or school-leaving certificate from the Independent Examination Board as certified by Umalusi with admission to bachelor’s degree studies; or
• A university exemption certificate issued by the South African Matriculation Board to students with other school qualifications.
Admission to bachelor’s degree studies requires that you obtain a mark of at least 4 (50-59%) in each of four designated university admission subjects.
