Advanced Diploma In Agriculture In Post Harvest Technology At University Of Mpumalanga UM

Advanced Diploma in Agricultural in Post-Harvest Technology aims to train students to the latest thinking in the management of post-harvest processes.
Identifying the best practices of harvesting, minimizing losses, increasing shelf life, transportation, processing and storage of field crop. The focus is on the management of processes with the ultimate goal of increasing efficiency and effectiveness.

Upon completion graduates will be able to contribute towards building the capacity of the national post-harvest value chain, including human capacity,
systems and value-adding technologies and processes. Graduates will meet the demands of the changing agricultural landscape in South Africa.

Supporting the agricultural transformation and assisting the majority of the population which has been marginalized and generally denied meaningful access to the agricultural sector of the South African economy.

DURATION:
The Advanced Diploma in Agricultural in Post-Harvest Technology is a one-year, 120 credit, exit Level 7 qualification.

CURRICULUM:
Students will complete modules in; Effective Post-Harvest Management (30 Credits), Post-Harvest Processing and Engineering (30 Credits), Strategic Management (15 Credits), Principles and Practices of Management for Development (15 Credits) and Post-Harvest Experiential Learning (30
Credits). A period of work integrated learning is included in the Advanced Diploma, where students will apply concepts taught in a real-world setting.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Of Advanced Diploma In Agriculture In Post Harvest Technology At University Of Mpumalanga UM
The minimum requirement for admission to an Advanced Diploma is a three-year Diploma in Agriculture at Level 6, with an average of 60% for modules taken at third-year.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AND CREDIT ACCUMULATION AND TRANSFER (CAT):
Applicants wishing to be considered for admission in terms of RPL or to have credits transferred to this programmed must indicate this on their application. The University policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) will be applied.

PROGRESSION:
Students that complete the Advanced Diploma will be able to apply for admission into Honors in Agriculture, which may further be followed by a Masters in Agriculture.
