Advanced Diploma In Agriculture In Agricultural Extension At University Of Mpumalanga UM

The Advanced Diploma in Agriculture in Agricultural Extension at UMP aims to equip agricultural extension practitioners with the skills, knowledge and attitude needed to contribute to building the capacity of farmers to innovate and to engage in market-oriented sustainable agricultural production, diversification of products and value adding.

Graduates will contribute to strengthening the capacity of the nation to meet its agricultural objectives.

They will help meet the demand for professional practitioners who can participate in leading South African agriculture through the complex world of agricultural and rural transformation while at the same time supporting and helping to expand commercial agricultural activity and production.

DURATION:
The Advanced Diploma in Agriculture in Agricultural Extension is a one-year, 120 credit, exit level 7 qualification.

CURRICULUM:
The Advanced Diploma in Agriculture in Agricultural Extension can be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years.

The focus in this Advanced Diploma is on policy and practice, and students will complete modules in Extension Theory & Policy Context; Planning Extension Programmed and Projects; Strategic Management and Principles and Practices of Management for Development.

The Advanced Diploma includes a period of Work Integrated Learning in which extension and management concepts, principles, methods and tools are applied in a real-world agricultural extension setting.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Of Advanced Diploma In Agriculture In Agricultural Extension At University Of Mpumalanga UM
The minimum entrance requirement for the Advanced Diploma is a Level 6 Diploma in Agriculture.

Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture who wish to study agricultural extension will also be considered.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AND CREDIT ACCUMULATION AND TRANSFER (CAT)
Applicants wishing to be considered for admission in terms of RPL or to have credits transferred to this programme must indicate this on their application. The University policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) will be applied.

PROGRESSION:
Students who successfully complete this Advanced Diploma will be able to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Agriculture (Honours) in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management at UMP.
