What are the types of laptop batteries?
Three types of batteries power the laptops you’ll find in service today, nickel-cadmium (NiCad), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), and lithium-ion (Li-ion), with Li-ion being the most common in newer laptops. Each battery type has different chemistry for generating a charge and, therefore, different characteristics.
Can the laptop battery be repaired?
Unfortunately, there is no way to restore a lithium battery. You’ll have to find your laptop specs to see what kind of battery you have. For lithium-ion batteries, you can’t restore them, but you can possibly extend the life of the battery.
Is it OK to use a laptop while charging?
Using a laptop while charging is okay. You don’t need to worry about overcharging or overheating because it is less likely to happen. A laptop with a lithium-ion battery doesn’t overcharge because of the battery’s mechanism.
What spoils a laptop battery?
Even though a modern laptop battery cannot be overcharged, doing so will stress and harm your battery. Both extremely high temperatures (above 70°F) and low temperatures (32–41°F) can also reduce battery capacity and damage its components.
