Can you become a nurse in 5 months?
The South African Nursing Council (SANC) has made it clear that for anyone to become a certified caregiver, such person must have a four years degree certificate or a three-year national diploma from an accredited institution.
After possessing the qualifications, they will then undergo mandatory clinical training at a hospital or institution. This is followed by writing an exam to register with SANC which will allow them to practice legally as a caregiver.
To become an auxiliary nurse, all you have to do is to enroll for a higher certificate which is like a year or lesser program. The work of an auxiliary nurse is to provide basic nursing care under the supervision of an enrolled or registered nurse.
Becoming a registered nurse, enrolled nurse, or enrolled nursing auxiliary is not the end, you can enroll for certificate courses that can last for weeks, months, or years. Nurses can also further possess a Master’s degree or doctorate qualification.
If you are enrolling in 6 months nursing school program, make sure you enroll in a school approved by SANC. We recently wrote about the list of nursing schools in South Africa, kindly take your time to read it.
