Submitting Results and Documents:

School learners must ensure that all examination results from Grade 11 until September of Grade 12 are submitted. Failure to do such may result in delays within the student’s application process. You might find that you applied early in Grade 12 and thus only sent in your final Grade 11 results. If this is true, as the year progresses and you receive more results keep sending them through to UCT, that way they will have all your results by the time finals come around.

Transferring students should too ensure that all transcripts and academic records are submitted as early as possible as well as that a final transcript of current studies being undertaken reaches the Admissions Office as soon as possible after receipt.

UFH Campuses

Qwaqwa Campus

Situated in the scenic sandstone mountains of Phuthaditjhaba in the Eastern Free State, our Qwaqwa Campus attracts students from across the continent, with the majority from the Eastern Free State and western KwaZulu-Natal.

This campus offers programmes in the Faculties of the Humanities, Education, Economic and Management Sciences, as well as Natural and Agricultural Sciences, with postgraduate teaching in various centres of excellence. Our main consideration is that the learning programmes, research, academic interventions, and community service-learning opportunities are socially and educationally responsive to the region. UFS Alternative Access to Higher-Education Studies

Couldn’t get university admission? It does not have to be the end of the road for you. Do you have an AP of at least 18? In that case, you can get access to a variety of degree study programmes if you meet the minimum requirements of the University Access Programme (UAP), which includes the University Preparation Programme (UPP), Higher Certificates in Economic and Management Sciences, and Higher Certificate in the Humanities.

The programme provides prospective students with an opportunity to enjoy degree studies at higher-education institutions after successful completion of an access year.

What is the UAP?

We introduced this programme to assist many deserving students who do not meet our admission requirements. There are various study options:

  • Higher Certificate in Economic and Management Sciences (Commerce)
  • Higher Certificate in Economic and Management Sciences (Administration)
  • Higher Certificate in the Humanities
  • University Preparation Programme in Economic and Management Sciences (Oudtshoorn only)
  • University Preparation Programme in Human and Social Sciences (Oudtshoorn only)
  • University Preparation Programme in Natural Sciences
  • University Preparation Programme in Agricultural Sciences
  • University Preparation Programme in Education

If you complete any of the above options successfully, you can get access to almost any mainstream course – if you meet the specific admission requirements of that course. During your access year, you will get more than just academic information. We address a wider scope of needs to help you prepare for higher-education studies. In the Skills and Competencies in Lifelong Learning course, you will learn skills to help you with problem-solving, self-assertiveness, and other generic competencies. An Academic Literacy course will also improve your academic reading and writing skills.

Who may participate in the programme?

It is an open facility that welcomes all applicants who could not obtain access to a higher-education institution, including the University of the Free State.

All students: Applications open on 1 September 2022

SA students: Applications close on 30 November 2022
