To avoid PvP (Player vs. Player combat) in Fallout 76, you can take several steps to minimize or completely eliminate the chances of hostile player interactions. While PvP is part of the game, Bethesda has added many systems to protect PvE players—especially after feedback from the community.

🛑 1. Use Passive or Peaceful Modes

Adventure Mode – Passive PvP System

  • PvP is opt-in only: Players must shoot each other to initiate real PvP.
  • If you don’t shoot back, they do minimal damage.
  • Griefers are discouraged by becoming wanted and marked on the map.

Private Worlds / Fallout 1st Subscription

  • Completely avoid PvP by playing on a Private World.
  • Available with Fallout 1st (paid subscription), where only invited players can join.

🛡️ 2. Avoid “Wanted” or PvP-Flagged Actions

  • Don’t damage another player’s camp or loot their items.
  • Avoid stealing, destroying, or initiating aggression to stay off the PvP radar.

🔇 3. Turn Off Pacifist Mode (or Keep It On!)

  • Found in Settings > Gameplay > Pacifist Mode.
  • When ON, it prevents you from doing any PvP damage, making it impossible to accidentally trigger PvP.
  • Keep this ON at all times unless you’re intentionally PvPing.

🧭 4. Avoid PvP Hotspots

  • Stay away from:
    • Workshop areas (PvP is allowed when you claim one).
    • Events like “Hunter/Hunted” or those encouraging PvP.
    • Nuke Zones – these often attract high-level competitive players.

🏠 5. Place Your CAMP Carefully

  • Build your CAMP away from high-traffic areas like Vault 76, Flatwoods, Whitespring, or faction bases.
  • Consider a remote forest, cliffside, or hidden mountain spot.
  • Use turrets and traps for passive defense if you’re worried.

🚫 6. Don’t Engage with Aggressive Players

  • If someone is baiting or griefing:
    • Don’t shoot back
    • Fast travel away
    • Block or report via the social menu

👥 7. Play in Teams or Solo Privately

  • Teams can deter solo griefers.
  • Or play solo on a private server to eliminate all PvP threats.

💬 8. Disable Voice Chat

  • Reduce social confrontation or baiting by turning off voice chat under settings.

📦 BONUS TIP: Avoid Workshops for PvE-only Play

Claiming a public workshop automatically enables PvP for that zone. If you’re focused on PvE, don’t claim them, or do so only in a private world.
