How To Avoid Blue Tick In Whatsapp

If you’re referring to the blue ticks in WhatsApp, they indicate that a message has been read by the recipient. Some people may prefer not to have their read receipts visible to others, either to maintain privacy or to avoid the pressure of replying immediately.

While you can’t completely avoid the blue ticks in WhatsApp if the person you’re messaging has read receipts enabled, you can turn off your own read receipts so others can’t see when you’ve read their messages. Here’s how to manage it:

How to Avoid Blue Ticks (Read Receipts) in WhatsApp

1. Turn Off Read Receipts for Individual Chats

To stop sending read receipts (the blue ticks) to others, follow these steps:

For Android:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the three dots in the top-right corner to access the Menu.
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Toggle off Read Receipts.

For iPhone:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings (bottom-right corner).
  2. Tap Privacy.
  3. Turn off Read Receipts.

Important Notes:

  • Group chats: Read receipts are still visible in group chats, even if you turn them off.
  • Voice messages: Disabling read receipts will not stop blue ticks from appearing for voice messages.

2. Use Airplane Mode to Read Messages

If you want to read a message without triggering the blue ticks, you can use Airplane Mode to disable internet access temporarily. Here’s how:

  1. Open WhatsApp and wait for the message to load.
  2. Turn on Airplane Mode (this disables Wi-Fi and mobile data).
  3. Read the message while offline.
  4. Exit WhatsApp and turn off Airplane Mode.

Note: The message will not be marked as read until you reconnect to the internet and open WhatsApp again.

3. Disable Last Seen

Turning off Last Seen can also enhance your privacy, as people won’t know the last time you used WhatsApp. To disable Last Seen:

For Android:

  1. Open Settings in WhatsApp.
  2. Tap Privacy.
  3. Tap Last Seen and select Nobody.

For iPhone:

  1. Open Settings in WhatsApp.
  2. Go to Privacy.
  3. Tap Last Seen and choose Nobody.

This doesn’t stop blue ticks but adds an extra layer of privacy by hiding when you last checked the app.

4. Avoid the “Typing…” Status

If you want to prevent others from seeing when you’re typing, avoid typing your message in the chat box for too long. Instead, type it in your phone’s notes or a different app and then paste it into WhatsApp when ready to send. This will prevent WhatsApp from showing the “typing…” status.

⚠️ Things to Remember:

  • If you disable read receipts, you also won’t be able to see blue ticks for others’ messages.
  • In group chats, the blue ticks will still appear when everyone has read the message, even if you’ve disabled your own read receipts.
  • If you’re trying to avoid blue ticks appearing when you read someone else’s message, the only foolproof method is for the other person to also have read receipts disabled.

These steps should give you more control over your privacy on WhatsApp, reducing the visibility of your activity and read receipts.
