How many times can you use hand sanitizer before washing with soap and water?
Some people have advocated that you should wash your hands after every four or five uses of alcohol-based hand rub.
But, there is no reason to do this. If your hands feel ‘grubby’ or are visibly dirty, you should wash them with soap and water.
Do you use hand sanitizer before or after washing your hands?
Hand sanitizer cannot remove contaminants effectively since it doesn’t have enough pressure to remove them as running water does.
There is no reason to use hand sanitizer again immediately after washing your hands. Washing with soap and water and drying your hands with a clean towel will leave them clean.
Can I mix hand sanitizer and water?
The water would just float on top. But if the water mixes in, you’d dilute the sanitizer, possibly destroying the minimal requirement of 60% alcohol for it to be effective.
If you add enough water, it may lose all antiseptic properties, and grow bacteria and mold. Bottom line: Don’t add water to hand sanitizer.
How long should you wash with hand sanitizer?
Apply the gel product to the palm of one hand (read the label to learn the correct amount). Cover all surfaces of hands.
Rub your hands and fingers together until they are dry. This should take around 20 seconds.
