Flat Cable Suppliers In South Africa

What is a Flat Cable?

As their name suggests, flat cables have a flatter design than round cables. Their conductors are individually encapsulated, carefully arrayed in a straight line at precise intervals, and surrounded by insulation. Unlike round cables, flat cables do not usually have layers of fillers and shielding.

Why flat cable is used?

Flat cables allow for compact designs of electrical conductors and tubing, encasing power, signal, video, data and even pneumatic tubing in one flat profile.

By eliminating the multiple layers of fillers, shielding and jacketing used in round cables, they offer reduced space and weight and extremely long lives.

What are the disadvantages of flat cables?

LAN cables are made from flat copper wire and have side-by-side twisted pairs. Flat cables are not shielded and therefore can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) over longer distances (about 100m).

Why do flat cables not tangle?

Some companies say headphones with flat cords are less likely to tangle because there’s less friction between the wires than with round ones.

Are flat cables durable?

Due to all these reasons flat ethernet cables have less durability and high maintenance cost compared to round ones. Flat wires are less sustainable than the round ones and they do not have any protective filler around them.

What is the strongest type of cable?

But the strongest cable material is again decided by the engineer’s application requirements. Empirically, tungsten is a stronger material as compared with stainless steel alternatives.

Pound for pound, tungsten, on the periodic table known as wolfram or simply W, is the strongest metal on earth.
