How long does it take for a catalytic converter cleaner to work?
Dump all the bottle’s contents into your fuel tank.
This is the same place where you would put gas.
Step 2: Drive your vehicle for at least 15 minutes to allow the Cataclean to get into your vehicle’s parts.
Step 3: If you have error codes on your onboard computer (OBDII), clear them after you’ve driven the vehicle.
How do you use a catalytic convertor cleaner?
Pour the cleaner into the gas tank.
Depending on which brand you use and how much gas is in your tank, use either part or all of the bottle of cleaner. The cleaner will mix with the gas and run through the catalytic converter as you drive the car.
Will cleaning a catalytic converter fix it?
Yes, in many circumstances, you can unclog a catalytic converter. You can either remove the part and clean it out or use a catalytic converter cleaner. If these options don’t work, your converter may be too clogged to repair.
Can you put the catalytic converter cleaner in a full tank?
Yes, a whole bottle of Cataclean is recommended for 15 liters of fuel, roughly a quarter of a tank.
So if you have half a tank left in your car, you can use two bottles. If you run your car down to half a tank and use Cataclean but it seems to have no effect, refill your tank fully.
