Where Is Dunkin Donuts In South Africa

The American coffee and baked goods brand, Dunkin’ Donuts opened its first store in South Africa, making it its 45th country that has joined the franchise.

Grand Parade Investments, which is listed on the JSE, entered into the agreement to own the master franchise in South Africa with Dunkin’ Donuts.

They intend to develop more than 250 Dunkin’ Donut restaurants as well as more than 70 Baskin-Robbin shops, an ice-cream and cake shop, in South Africa in the coming years.

Customers queued for meters outside the restaurant in Goodwood, Cape Town at the N1 City on Thursday 13 October 2016 to get their first taste of the crazed donuts and coffee.

According to Alan Keet, CEO of Grand Parade Investments, this was the first of five scheduled to open in the coastal city by the end of 2016. They intend to open their first store in Johannesburg in early 2017.

Adding to the experience of operating Burger King restaurants in South Africa, Grand Parade plans to open clusters of stores to make the new brand more visible, he said.

Dunkin Donuts, based in Canton, Massachusetts, wants to have 290 stores in South Africa in ten years, Keet said, and Grand Parade has the rights to expand the brand into six more countries in the region.

Bill Mitchel, the president of Dunkin’ Donuts said that they are pleased to work with Grand Parade. “GPI has a wealth of experience in the local restaurant and retail industry, and a strong focus on operational excellence,” Mitchell said.

“We look forward to supporting GPI in their efforts to make Dunkin’ Donuts, as well as its sister brand Baskin-Robbins, available to a growing number of guests in South Africa in the years ahead.”

GPI bought the licenses for the master franchise in South Africa for the combined cost of R12.3 million.
