MIE can assist you to verify and check an individual’s criminal record by capturing digital fingerprints and checking their prints against the AFIS database.
How Long Does MIE Check Take In South Africa
Depending on the checks submitted, results can take from several minutes to several days. By default,
the report will be emailed to the person that submitted the request for verification. The report can also be viewed via ePCV or SmartScreen.

Does a criminal record go away in South Africa?
You can apply to have your criminal record expunged when: a period of 10 years has passed after the date of the conviction for that offense.
You have not been convicted and sentenced to a period of imprisonment without the option of a fine during those 10 years.
